A bus service operates along the coastal road, stopping in other resort areas and Rethymno town.

The villa has easy access to both the coastal road and national highway so exploring the island is easy. The villages nestled in the hills behind Pigianos Kampos are interesting to drive to and explore. Enjoy a meal and stunning views in one of the traditional tavernas in villages such as Pigi and Maroulas.
Arkadi monastery is within a 20 minute drive and is a must see. The scenery along the way is stunning and the monastery has a very interesting history. The ruins of Ancient Elefterna and museum allow you to discover some of Rethymno’s history.
There are many villages to explore around the area, Margarites being one of them. Take a stroll around the beautiful mountain village, famous for its handmade pottery and soak up the atmosphere in one of the traditional tavernas.
Located just a short drive from the highway, you are in a prime position to explore the south or west of the island but also within an hours drive of Heraklion. If you don’t want to travel far there is plenty to explore on your doorstep. Lake Kournas, known as the “Emerald’ lake, is just 40 minutes drive away. Hire a pedalo or paddle boat and turtle spot, swim in the lake or simply enjoy the glorious scenery and environment in one of the lakeside tavernas. Argiropouli is famous for its lush green vegetation and water springs. Many of the tavernas have water wheels and are famous for fresh trout and ‘antikristo’ lamb cooked slowly over an open fire.
Head south and visit the tombs of Armeni, an unusual discovery, and continue on to the village of Spili with its lions’ head fountains and craft shops. Explore the famous Amari valley and the plateaus of Psiloritis or enjoy a drive through the intimidating Kourtaliotiko canyon as you head down to the crystalline waters of south Crete.
